Children are actually using technology as a means of gaining information rather than misusing it. This could be to help them with homework or it could be to find information pertaining to any number of concerns they may have.

The internet is just as full of bad information as it is good and perhaps children aren’t mature enough to be sceptical about what they see and do. This is where adult intervention and support needs to come in. It is the parent or guardians’ duty to direct children towards trusted portals where they can gain the information and support they need. For example, services like The Worrinots App.

The information on The Worrinots App has been verified by an independent child psychologist and counsellor. When children are using The Worrinots App there are no links to external websites. The Worrinots App does not offer any advertising. Staff using the Guardian App will be able to track children’s usage, allowing accurate information to be available for Ofsted.

A key point to remember here is that the amount of time spent on a device isn’t the problem, it’s what is being viewed during that time. Therefore, online safety, rather than usage, is the more important issue.

The short answer is yes!

The Worrinots has been designed with security of data as a priority, as a company we understand the sensitive nature of what is being entered and the responsibility of how responses could influence a child’s behaviour. The Worrinots parent company, Oakley Mobile is a business that hosts a wealth of critical data with experience of secure and sensitive information.

The Worrinots and Oakley Mobile is registered under and works in line with the Data Protection Act. The company has security policies in place that are regularly updated as threats continue to evolve and that cover security governance, as well as standards for physical and logical security. The Worrinots and WotNot applications communicate with BAASBox, which is a secure and scalable back-end environment. The Worrinots has also ensured password encryption and full system, server and data storage security. The Worrinots has thought of every scenario, such as a guardian leaving, a device being lost or stolen, forgetting passwords, adding and removing devices, and has a security policy in place for each.

The sole aim of The Worrinots app is to help children communicate their fears, worries and anxieties in a way that is easy and accessible. The app encourages children to share their fears, worries and anxieties early on before they fester and become greater issues in later life. Based on recognised methods that are used by child psychologists, the app intends to reduce the chance of issues becoming deep-rooted, while avoiding any potential stigma. Empowering children with coping mechanisms, found on The Worrinots app, can give children a new found confidence and freedom to engage in activities outside the house.

The tips and tactics included in this app is very much in line with other global information widely available. The Worrinots app is completely secure and does not offer any external links that lead children to external web sites outside the app.

The Worrinots app and the tips & tactics have been viewed and verified by a child psychologist who is a member of the AChiPPP and a child, young person and adult counsellor who is a member of the MBACP.

Once the application is installed your child will be able to create their own log in by simply opening up The Worrinots, select “New User”, enter their name, create a four digit pin number and enter their age and gender. Each time they re-visit the app simply log in using their name and pin number. If you have more than one child simply go through the same process for each.

All the Worri-tips have been co-written and verified by a qualified BACP registered counsellor.

The annual subscription is based upon the amount of users (minimum of 50 students). Each user is calculated at £2.89 per year which equates to 1.5p per day.
